McGetrick Academy

McGetrick Featured Golf Pro of the month...

McGetrick Golf Academy is one of the top academies in the nation and we are constantly working to help our students improve. Consistent lessons along with evaluation of improvement are needed to reach the goals you have for improving your golf game. Our own expectations are like chains and shackles keeping us from being the best we can be. Many times just working on the mental aspect of how you improve and how you manage your game are the steps needed to see dramatic improvement.

Consider this; you have just gone to the doctor with an infection that requires antibiotics. The doctor writes you a prescription that allows for enough pills over a certain amount of days to hopefully rid you of the infection. After taking the first pill you are not healed. The antibiotics must be taken consistently over a period of days to be effective. Apply this situation to the instruction you receive in your golf game and your improvement will accelerate.

When receiving instruction you might expect to see the ball fly better immediately. This may happen but, just because it does not remain consistent does not necessarily mean you are not improving. To improve at an accelerated rate you must be willing to miss the ball completely, commit to the swing change, and not relate too much of your early improvement with the flight of the ball.

Use tees during practice. It takes some of the pressure off hitting the ball during a swing change. Strengthen the short game first to help survive the change. Practice swings without a ball and in front of a mirror are very effective.

Remember, after Tiger won his first Masters he and Butch Harmon worked on swing changes for eighteen months before he won again. He went through this same transition again with Hank Haney. While Tiger was still able to win the total transition took even longer. “Just look at him now!” We should all take this patient prescription. Your desire for short term gain will keep you from your full potential.

Our New “Integrated Golf School” takes learning to the next level! In this program we cover mental, physical, full swing, short game, putting and game management. The Integrated Golf School provides you with a game plan for future improvement and provides you with the tools to get your expectations out of your way! Come, join us, and let us help you reach the goals you want to achieve.

Thank you for making us your new home for game improvement!
